About the Author

I’m a 25-year-old graduate from the University of California, Santa Cruz who is enthusiastic about engineering, robotics, web development, psychology and philosophy.

I spend my time caring for my 9-month-old son, working on projects and learning how to code in multiple languages. My current favorite language is JavaScript. I also enjoys the outdoors as I try to be an avid fitness enthusiast as well.

One of my aspirations is to form a group that encourages young women into STEM. Curiosity, adaptation, and community are some of my core values. I value curiosity, and I believe it to be an important trait in order to learn about the world around us. It is also important to learn to adapt to what our curiosity develops into. Adapting to our surroundings allows us to continue that journey in learning whatever it is that we want.

I’m a part of a wonderful community. My parents migrated to America from Mexico to give my sisters and I a better life. However, I see a lack of resources within the community I grew up in. My mother had to stop her education at an early age to help her family, and my father never went to college.

Lack of education and resources is common in underrepresented communities, and I think it’s time that changed.
